Episode 4: Ecologically-based Universal Principle. National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention.

Bekie and Baz are parents of two children. They have a conversation with Leanne, an Occupational Therapist who has worked with the family for some time. 

Leanne brought to life an ecological approach that’s rooted in Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory. Together, they highlight the importance of contextual influences on their child’s learning and development with a particular focus on the informal and formal supports and services that affect family functioning. 

They discuss, in a practical way, how they have used an eco-map to inform goal setting, the development of support strategies and their upcoming transition and hand-over to another practitioner.  The ecomap was a live document that they all used to understand and respond to the environmental factors that impact their children and family and how they address these in the course of planning of intervention/support?
